Inspiration for those crummy days

Tea Sketch by Dave Gray

This is such a great idea for when you have those pesky creative blocks.

So to preform this wondrously inspiring feat, all you do brew a cup of tea, then plunk your fresh tea bag down on a white index card. Once the tea stain has dried, you take a pen and complete the drawing. Finally, just sit back and feel that mental block melt away as the ideas come pouring in.

There is a whole flickr group dedicated to it here, unfortuantly there aren’t too many pictures in it right now, but the ones that are there are facinating.

Anyhoo, I’m sure this will prove to be very useful in the near future.

That is the smell of freshness!

I just got done re-desiging Fearless Future. Mary and I wanted to go with a much cleaner design than before with the goal of making it much easier to navigate.

Striking a Chord

I found this post on We-Make-Money-Not-Art about La Linea by Osvaldo Cavandoli (see video below) a French TV show from the early 70s. I love this concept of using a simple line to convey complex emotion/action.

Immediately upon seeing La Linea, I thought of a modern example of of this same technique… The new Hilton Hotel’s advertising campaign “Travel should take you places” (see video below).

I really love the simplicity of these.

You can find other clips of La Linea here, here, and here.
And the other three Hilton ads here, here, and here.
